Show me
your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and
teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day
long.
Psalm 25:4-5
It is fairly easy to keep all of our unattractive attributes hidden
from ourselves as well as others. There are simply things within our
hearts that we don’t wish to see or to share. The ironic part is for
all the effort we put into keeping them a secret, eventually they
always make their way to the visible surface. If we will trust that
God is able to keep us in all things, than we can be assured that if
we continue to maintain a personal and intimate relationship with Him,
He will enable us to deal with and transform those negative attributes
into positives, bringing blessing to our lives, and glory to Him. It’s
important for us to remain teachable, always learning, always seeking,
and always desiring to be improved. In order for these changes to take
place, we must first be willing to evaluate ourselves before our God
and according to His standard; stepping outside of ourselves and
seeing what He sees; evaluating the motives and thoughts behind our
actions.
Prayer
Lord, teach us Your ways, engrave Your word upon our hearts. You see
all, and understand all things, all our effort to keep things a secret
are in vain. We surrender ourselves to you wholly, and trust that You
are able to take every secret fault, and transform it into something
beautiful that will bring glory and honor to You. In You we will find
the direction we seek, in You we find abundant life, in You we do hope
all the day long, Amen.
