A woman giving
birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby
is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born
into the world.
John 16:21
Life is filled with both joy and pain. They seem to have their proper
place, even though we would prefer to exclude the pain. We certainly do
our best to avoid it, yet somehow it captures our attention and
typically results in change, along with a new appreciation for the good
things in life. Let’s face it, we have a choice to either embrace life
with joy, or give into the pain and go down with the ship. With Christ,
there is no wall too tall to scale, no river too wide to cross and no
mountain too high to climb. While we may not understand why we have to
travel the road we’re on, we can choose our state of mind as we travel
it. We have been given hope, that joy does come regardless of how
intense the pain. It passes and is forgotten, when the joy that follows
it settles in. Living a life of faith in God, does not mean we will
never face disappointments, despair and discouragement, but it does mean
that we will never face it alone and we will never be overcome by it, as
long as we continue holding the hand of God and trusting Him to give us
the strength to accomplish what only He can.
Prayer
I know without a doubt that You are with me, through both the pain and
the joy in this life. Fill my heart with Your joy; allow Your peace to
settle over my soul. As I experience both the joys and sorrows, I choose
to embrace Your love, knowing with You all things are possible; knowing
there is no better path for me, than the one You have chosen. You are my
greatest joy and I thank You for giving me hope, Amen.
