Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
Matthew 25:13

We spend endless hours whining, worrying, being uptight, angry and distracted off our course. Not to mention the time we waste being so busy absorbing all the temporal comforts of this world and neglecting the eternal. There is coming a day when a trumpet will sound, and the clouds will burst open as Jesus steps out to say "Children it's time to come home".  I believe at that moment, the cares we involve ourselves in, in this world will quickly fade.  Politics won't matter, the stock market won't matter, our careers won't matter. Our focus will be quickly shifted, but the big question of the day is, are we prepared to meet Him? Will we recognize His voice, or will it be drown out the clutter of this world. It's time to wake up, and realize that as attached as we have become to this world, it is not our home. We certainly don't want to be so pre-occupied with what happened last week, what will happen next week, or what is upsetting us today, that we fail to hear, to see, and to respond to the sound of His voice, as He calls us to come. It's time for us to wake up, and prepare ourselves for the arrival of our Lord, living each moment for Him, continually aware of His presence and trusting in His truth and love.

Prayer

Lord, You are life to all that lives. It is You that I long for. I thank You for each and every blessing and comfort in my life, but they can't take Your place in my heart. Wake me up, give me wisdom and understanding so that on that glorious day, I will be alert and listening for Your call. I wait with hope and anticipation for the day, when I hear the beautiful sound of that trumpet, and see Your face as You come to take me home. Amen.
