May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
2 Corinthians 13:14
Christmas is a joyous time of the year. It is a celebration of life,
love, endless possibilities and eternal hope, because of Jesus Christ.
Yet sometimes, among all the preparation and celebration, we fail to
maintain fellowship with the very One we are celebrating. There is
nothing more satisfying in our lives, than the precious time we spend in
the presence of God; giving Him all of our anxiety; gleaning His wisdom
and being refreshed by His Spirit. It is a retreat and a sanctuary for
our souls we desperately need each day, even more so during the holiday
season, with the added pressures and extra social interaction with
family and friends. Many a festive celebration has been known to go
sour, because of a careless response, or a harsh word. As we embrace
this Christmas season, let’s not forget to embrace the love, compassion,
humility, mercy and grace, of the One who made it all possible.
Prayer
Lord, help me not to become so preoccupied with celebrating Your birth
that I forget You and how much I need You. Not just during one season in
the year, but each and every day, You are life and hope for my soul.
Fill my heart with Your love, compassion and mercy. I thank You for
giving so much for me. Amen.
