God Today Devotions
January 28, 2004
The Lord will fulfill his
purpose for me; your love, O Lord endures forever; do not abandon the
works of your hands.
Psalm 138:8
Everyone is looking for their place in this world. We can become
frantically obsessed with finding our purpose. We can read about it, and
hear of the experiences of others, but we won’t find it, until we can
begin to embrace God’s vision for our life. We need to come to a place
where we desire the vision He gives us, more than anything in this
world, more than our personal comfort, our reputations, our problems and
even our own dreams. Yes, God has a vision for each of our lives, and we
need to grab hold of it, not allowing anything to prevent us from
earnestly and whole heartedly seeking to obtain it. We can begin today,
by putting aside the desire to be what we are not and learning not only
to be content, but comfortable with whom God created us to be. When our
hearts are in this open place, we will begin to see Him birth our
purpose; a purpose that accomplishes more than fulfilling our human
whims, and brings glory and honor to our Creator.
Prayer
You are good God, and I know You will not withhold anything that is good
from me. I come humbly surrendering my life to You today, my heart
filled with gratitude and awe. You have given me life, hope, joy and
peace. You are what I desire. Whatever You have intended my life to be,
I will be content and take comfort in knowing that it is perfect.
Forgive me for trying to be like others. You are the Potter, this clay
lays silent and willing in Your hands. Mold me into Your perfect will,
In Jesus name I ask, Amen.
