God Today Devotions
April 14, 2004

God has saved us and called us to a holy life, not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
2 Timothy 1:9

God has a purpose for each of us. Sometimes we are unable to grasp a vision for that purpose, because of the limitations that have been placed on us, as far back as we can remember. Our parents, teachers, communities, peers, as well as the circumstances in our lives, all influence our opinion of our ability and ourselves. Our true identity is found in Jesus Christ. He wants to bring about the necessary changes in us, which will bring His vision for our lives to pass. The more we spend time with Him, the more we will begin to see ourselves through His eyes and according to His purpose and what He has designed and determined us to be. Whether it is ordinary or extraordinary we can do all things through Jesus Christ who enables us.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, enable us to be all that You have purposed us to be. Help us not be afraid to seek the vision You have for our lives, and to put aside the opinions and circumstances that have influenced how we view ourselves. Open our eyes and allow us to see clearly, the purpose You have determined for our lives. Amen.
