Command those who are rich in
this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but
in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do
good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,
storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that
they may lay hold on eternal life.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Some may think that being blessed financially would put an end to all of
their troubles. We are all blessed in many different ways and in each of
our lives, whether rich or poor, we experience troubles and turmoil.
Those who are blessed financially, have a responsibility to do good with
it. Just as freely as we receive, we are to give. Whatever your
blessing, financial or otherwise, share it. All things are given for us
to enjoy and we need not feel guilty about enjoying them; yet we can’t
become dependent on the blessings and neglect the hand who gave them to
us. God supplies our every need in every situation. He is the One we can
depend upon. While our bank account balances may vary, the richness of
our lives need not. We all should be rich in good works, generous with
all that we have received. When we invest our blessings, whatever they
may be, into the kingdom of God, we are laying up for ourselves
treasures in Heaven; treasures that won’t rot away, but eternal,
everlasting treasure.
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for each blessing in my life; and for providing for my
every need according to Your wealth, not this world’s. Every good thing
in my life has come from Your hand. Help me to be rich in good works,
sharing all of my blessings with others and making an eternal investment
into Your everlasting Kingdom. Amen.
