How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God.
Mark 10: 23

If someone were to ask us, if we worshiped idols I am sure we would quickly respond with a no. The problem is that we don’t even realize the idols we have created. If we stop and think about what we place the most value on in our lives, and whose approval we seek, we may be surprised by our own answers. It’s easy to receive the blessings of God and un-intentionally place more emphasis on the blessings than the giver of the blessings. We can’t value anything above God. There is nothing wrong with having material possessions, it is only when we place more importance on them than God that we begin to have a problem. We need to let go of all of it, and allow the barriers between God and us to come crashing down; as we discover a freedom to dedicate ourselves wholly to God and following after the things that He desires.

Prayer

Lord I thank You for each blessing You have brought into my life. You have been good and faithful. Forgive me for placing more importance on the things You have blessed me with than You. You are more than worthy of my affection and my praise. Give me wisdom and strength to continue to let go and follow You. Amen.
