God Today Devotions July 18, 2003

I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.
Matthew 25:40

Each kindness extended, and love and care shown towards others, honors God. There are many who serve God daily in various ways, and although they may never be recognized, and appreciated for their service, it does not go unnoticed by God. For all the great things we work to accomplish in our lives, the daily things we do in love will have the greatest impact. Making ourselves available night or day to answer a call for help, to sit with a friend who is lonely and needs companionship, to run an errand for a neighbor, or counseling and praying with someone in a crisis. Making ourselves available without complaint, and regardless if it is for family, friends, or perfect strangers. Loving, giving, caring and extending kindness, through the Spirit of Jesus Christ. It is not work, and it is not an inconvenience, or task, but a joy; a joy to be in the service of our Lord.

Prayer

Lord, we make ourselves available for service. Allow our lives to reveal Your love. Fill our hearts with compassion. Remind us that in loving others, we are loving You. What an honor and joy to be in Your service. Amen.
