And a servant of the Lord must not
quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility
correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them
repentance, so that they may know the truth.
2 Timothy 2:25
We have a responsibility to teach the truth in love. No one should be
excluded from the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to love
all and share the love of Christ with all, regardless of our
differences. What we can’t do, is attempt to adapt God’s truth, so that
it meets the ever-changing whims of society and appease hearts that have
been hardened to the truth. Right is right, wrong is wrong, and sin is
sin. God is the same, today, yesterday and forever. The truth is not of
man, but of God. What a grave disservice we do, when we make exceptions
concerning truth, to pacify those who oppose the truth. We have an
obligation to share the truth, in the spirit of love. We have nothing to
be puffed up about, except that we know Jesus.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy;
love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely;
does not seek its own; is not provoked; thinks no evil; does not rejoice
in iniquity; but rejoices in the truth; bears all things; believes all
things; hopes all things; endures all things. Love never fails. 1
Corinthians 13:4-8
Prayer
Lord, give us wisdom, strength and the courage, to speak your truth in
love. Forgive us for backing down and watering down your truth, simply
to appease those who want to live in opposition to it. Holy Spirit,
reveal your truth to us, and help us to share that truth with others in
love. Soften their hearts, that they may receive your truth and be free,
in Jesus name we ask, Amen.
