O that thou had hearkened to my commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.
Isaiah 48:18

More than ever, there are those who are choosing to live their lives together, outside the confines of marriage or to completely change the concept of marriage to fit their needs. Socially it has become acceptable and even glamorized, as the best way to handle relationships. People are choosing to ignore God’s laws, as if He put them into place to prevent us from living life to its fullest. The truth is, God's laws are perfect and when we attempt to live outside of them, we are the ones who pay. God is not a tyrant, sitting on His throne and commanding us to abstain from pleasure. His laws are not intended to confine us, but to prevent us from experiencing the certain anguish that comes from ignoring them. Marriage is holy union and we should not enter into it, without much thought and prayer. When you take those vows, you are committed for life, through the good, bad, and ugly. Divorce is devastating, anyone who has been through one or knows of someone who has, understands that the depth of devastation, reaches far beyond the couple that has decided to separate. Much of the turmoil we see today in families, could be avoided, by adhering to the principles of God. It has cost us greatly to ignore them. If we will place the principles of God first in our lives, then our marriages and our homes will reap the benefits of an unbreakable bond.

Prayer

Let my heart not be deceived. Your ways Lord are perfect and You do not change. I trust in Your principles and know that You have given them, for me to follow out of Your great love. I choose to obey Your word and apply it to my life today.
