Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
Ephesians 5:1-2

Morality is not something that can be imposed, but rather something that must be realized and received by the heart. Our character is constantly changing and growing, as we make a choice to follow after the things of God, allowing Him to make daily transformations. Simply trying to follow a rigid set of rules, will not produce transformation. It is when our hearts grasp the revelation of the truth and character of Jesus Christ that we begin to understand a morality rooted in love and expressed through action. Jesus Christ is the standard of the universe and does not change; a standard that is based on the very nature and character of God. We can’t act against His standard, expecting to make things right. Deep down in each of us, there is a need for a standard of right and wrong; moral and immoral. We will find it in Jesus Christ; it will become rooted deep within our hearts, unyielding by changing cultures and not shaken by circumstance and events. It is consistent and strong and holds the world together.

Prayer

God, You are faithful. Your character and standard cannot be moved or shaken. It is more than rules and regulations; it is about love and choosing to submit to Your authority, allowing You to transform us into the image of Your Son Jesus Christ. He is the standard; allow Him to be evident in our daily living. Amen.
